Advantage of Plastic Fuel Tank : It is corrosion resistant & hence there is no contamination of fuel. It also provides vehicle designers flexibility to realize the most complex shapes to suit any location under the chassis in a cost effective manner. The design flexibility allows for providing maximum capacity tanks within available space. These tanks are rupture-resistant with high impact strength , improved safety and are leakproof. They are safer in crashes because of their seamless nature. Plastic is a poor conductor of electricity and hence does not carry spark. It offers ease of manufacturability, much lower number of operations required for manufacturing and hence improved product quality.

The manufacturing process uses co-extrusion sequential blow moulding. It uses a Shuttle type arrangement for mounting three different moulds. Robotic operation is used from forming to the finished product i.e Parison Holding , Deflashing, Machining of product & storage.

This company was founded in 1988 and jointly invested & operated by SDIC ( State Development & Investment Corporation) and SAIC ( Shangai Automotive Industry Co. Ltd. ) . It specializes in developing , manufacturing and selling Auto Plastic Fuel tanks ( PFTs) in China. With an annual turnover of US$ 60 Million ,it has nine plants and key customers like Volkswagen and Ford Motors.
